Dual-lamination

PVC lined FRP packing tower

Introduction:

A PVC-lined FRP packed tower is a tower-type equipment formed using a double-layer composite lamination technology. Its structure mainly consists of two layers:

Inner Liner (PVC): Made of high-quality rigid polyvinyl chloride sheet, the inner liner is formed through hot-press welding or integral molding technology. This layer directly contacts corrosive media, utilizing the excellent chemical inertness of PVC to resist the corrosion of strong acids (such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid), strong alkalis, and various organic solvents.

Structural Layer (FRP): After applying a special interface adhesive (such as R-resin) to the outer layer of the PVC lining, an FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) reinforcing layer is formed using mechanical winding or hand lay-up processes. This layer is composed of unsaturated polyester resin or vinyl ester resin and alkali-free glass fiber, giving the equipment sufficient mechanical strength to withstand wind loads, seismic loads, and the weight of the internal packing and liquid.

This structural design combines the corrosion resistance of plastic with the strength of steel, making it particularly suitable for a temperature range of -20°C to 80°C (up to approximately 100°C depending on the PVC material). Its smooth interior also prevents scaling.

Core Features and Advantages

  1. Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: The inner PVC layer provides a natural barrier against high concentrations of acids and alkalis, effectively preventing chloride ions and strong oxidizing media from penetrating the equipment. Compared to ordinary all-FRP towers, the PVC lining eliminates the micro-crack leakage problem that can occur in resin layers, making it especially suitable for harsh conditions such as wet desulfurization and chlor-alkali chemical processes.
  2. High Structural Strength and Lightweight Design: The outer FRP layer has a much higher specific strength than steel, resulting in thinner tower walls and a lighter weight, significantly reducing transportation and installation costs. Simultaneously, the fatigue resistance of FRP ensures the structural stability of the equipment under long-term dynamic loads (such as fan vibration and wind pressure changes), with a designed service life of 8-15 years.
  3. Excellent Anti-adhesion and Easy Maintenance: The smooth PVC lining surface provides excellent anti-adhesion for high-viscosity media, effectively reducing scaling on the tower walls and packing, and lowering the frequency of maintenance shutdowns due to blockages. The tower body can also be designed with quick-opening inspection holes and sight glasses for convenient daily inspections and packing replacement.
  4. Flexible Customization Design: Depending on the operating conditions, the tower structure can be designed as a vertical reverse-flow or horizontal cross-flow configuration. We also offer UV-resistant coatings to adapt to outdoor installation environments, ensuring the equipment does not fade or chalk during long-term outdoor use.

Main Application Areas:

Chemical Industry: Used for chlorine absorption, hydrogen chloride synthesis tail gas treatment, sulfuric acid mist purification, nitric acid absorption towers, and gas scrubbing and distillation in various chemical processes.

Pharmaceutical and Food Processing Industry: Treats fermentation tail gas, solvent recovery, and odorous gases from production processes.

Environmental Protection and Municipal Engineering: Serves as a core component in landfill leachate treatment and wastewater treatment plant deodorization systems.

Faced with increasingly stringent environmental standards and complex media environments, PVC-lined FRP packed towers, with their superior dual-protection performance, are becoming the mainstream choice in industrial waste gas treatment and chemical processing.
